Why Tile?
Ceramic tile is cost effective. Although its initial cost is certainly more than other floor finishes, it is a false economy to think you are saving money if the alternate flooring needs to be replaced every 10 years or less.
When selected and installed correctly, ceramic tile will last for 40 years or more. Regular cleaning with hot water is all that is needed to maintain glazed ceramic tile.
Ceramic tile can be used for both decorative and practical purposes. Ceramic ware is characterized by its easiness to clean, its ability to be kept from dirt and any type of corruption. Tile will not get scratches and nicks as easily as other surfaces might and the surfaces will last a lifetime with proper care.
Their resistance to abrupt temperature changes, chemical and biological agents, and their hardness, resistance to friction, gives them durability in buildings. Their incombustibility also helps to prevent the spread of fires.
You no longer need to limit your tile considerations to areas that might get wet. A wall of ceramic tile in
almost any room of the house can add a very distinctive backdrop for furnishings, plants, or a freestanding fireplace.
High traffic areas, both inside and outside the home, offer great possibilities for tile. Covering these high traffic areas with tile add years to the life of these surfaces.
